Invasion of France Tucker Muse, Allan Leon Period 2 May 7 2004

Script A= Allen’s line T= Tucker’s line A- It is June 6, 1944 and I am Allan Leon here reporting for the USA and we are currently in the invasion of Normandy. We will be now talking to General Dwight Eisenhower of his campaign of going into France and penetrating the German defenses. General Eisenhower was selected by the combined chiefs of the allies to be the operation overlord which is the single highest command for this invasion

T- That is correct I am the commanding general on this invasion to cross the English Channel and land in France to then push through Germany and end the War A- With what kind of force are we going to attack the Germans with. T- Right now we have composed an arrangement of 150,000 American and English troops. Along with thousands of bombers fighter planes and ships. A- How do you plan to get these troops in an effective manner on the beach at the same time T- Well that is one of my biggest problems because we only have enough crafts to enter 8 divisions of troops at the same time, so our drop ships will need to be working on the dime because the Germans already have more then 50 divisions in France right now!
4
A-That’s some big numbers for the enemy what do you plan on doing? T-The only way we can win this is if we have a surprise attack on the Normandy where the defenses are the weakest. I also found a way to isolate the battlefield so Germans cant use the French railways to send in reinforcements. By sending a squad of bombers to destroy specific railway systems the Germans will be lost when we break through and will have to retreat back. A-Good strategy! WAIT…..WAIT….I think the good general is about to talk to his men…yes…yes…Listen up folks this could be speech that will turn the tides. A speech that will go down in the history books. Let’s here.

T- Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! T- You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.
6
T- Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory! I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory! T- Good Luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.

A- those are some encouraging words to really the troops. Now that was amazing ladies gentlemen…hopefully that covers it. You just heard Eisenhowers D-Day Procolamation. A- It has started the first fleets have been sent out. I can barly see anything because of all the smoke. Also known as the fog of war. It is getting unsafe for me here im going to run… literally. Just remember this is Allan Leon reporting for the USA and please be thinking about these men.
