Background Scottish Government initiative – national roll out. Support to local areas from NHS Education Scotland (NES) Early intervention with vulnerable children through evidence based parenting programmes Using “implementation science” At scale

PoPP Aims To improve outcomes for children with significant levels of early-onset disruptive behaviour problems To increase workforce capacity around evidence- based parenting interventions for such children and their families To assist services to shift towards preventative early years spending To promote effective early years partnership working

PoPP Dissemination Plan Scotland-wide focus on top 10% of 3-4 year olds who show significantly elevated levels of disruptive behaviour. Build workforce capacity so that 1/3 rd of the parents of these children can have access to Incredible Years ® and 2/3rds have access to Triple P groups Health-led initiative promoting inter-agency delivery – Local needs – Girfec – EYTF priorities – National Parenting Strategy – Mental Health Strategy

Edinburgh Perspective Partnership – NHS, CEC, 3 rd Sector Multi-agency steering group Essential elements: – Trained facilitators – Appropriate referrals – Coordination – Ownership at all levels in key organisations

Progress Started September 2014 – focusing on ½ the city Groups – 7 IY, 4 TP have been delivered Now delivering – 8 IY and 6 TP Second stage starts today Have recruited 20 new IY Facilitators Second stage groups start delivering January At that point whole city “ready to roll”

Sustainability The funding from NES is time limited We need a sustainability plan. Critical to recruit families: needs all services engaged in this Facilitators from a range of services – there is always attrition Free venues Creches, transport, refreshments
