Focus of Primary Healthcare
Is to prevent illness and promote good health, and to provide affordable curative care for those in need It involves the individual, family and community Many people in developing countries live in rural areas where there is little access to healthcare services Primary healthcare helps to overcome this through training local health workers, who are able to treat common injuries and illnesses and educate the community about the prevention of disease

7
Features of the primary healthcare strategy
Always hurdles to overcome Lack of funding, lack of acceptance and difficulties training locals maybe some of the issues that arise Primary healthcare strategy is cost effective in that it trains local healthcare workers, rather than doctors It takes on the needs of the community into account, with the community involved in implementing the strategy This increases acceptance and therefore more likely to be successful It focuses on preventative healthcare, which helps the community to become self sufficient
