TWO EXPLORERS STORY by VANESSA ANDREOTTI and ANDREW ROBINSON ILLUSTRATIONS by BRUNO ANDREOTTI TWO EXPLORERS STORY by VANESSA ANDREOTTI and ANDREW ROBINSON ILLUSTRATIONS by BRUNO ANDREOTTI
12
There were once two explorers: a brother and a sister. At first, they travelled to many places together.
13
But, in their trips, they could never agree on what to do. The sister got excited exploring different places and bored if she had to stay in only one place. She wanted to explore far and beyond.
14
The brother got excited exploring one thing at a time and for a long time and he got bored if he had to keep moving to different places all the time. He liked to explore everything in detail. MAGNIFIER
15
Each one believed they could know better in their own way of knowing. So, they agreed to travel their separate ways and to come back together after one year to compare what they had learned.
16
The brother found a place he wanted to explore, fenced it, named it ‘My Kingdom’ and started to study everything he found in it.
17
He created numbers, names, measures, categories and labels for everything in his kingdom.
18
And he wrote all the information he found in his book. He gave the book the title: My Science. My Science
19
The sister travelled to many different places.
20
She felt many different winds in her face, tasted different flavours, shared stories and songs with many different creatures an fell in love with many different things.
21
She recorded every one of her feelings, stories, songs, sights and tastes in her heart.
22
One year passed and they came together again to compare their knowledge. He showed her his kingdom and his book and said: this is what I know and this is what is mine. My Science
23
She did not own anything from her trips (as things are difficult to carry if you are travelling a lot). So she told him the stories she had learned and about the things she had felt, tasted, seen, heard and smelled. And she said that there was still so much out there to learn.
24
However, they could not agree on who knew more or better. SO IF YOU WERE THE JUDGE, WHO WOULD WIN?
25
After endless discussions, they eventually agreed to disagree. THE END

I WONDER… 1.What is knowledge? 2.Can people who do not know how to read books also have a lot of knowledge? 3.Can we read other things like people and places? If so, how do we learn to do this? 4.Are there types of knowledge that can only be in books or in hearts? 5.Do men tend to know in a certain way and women in another way? If so, are they born like that or do they learn this from other people around them?
