4. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Metadata represents a critical component of your data It’s your data insurance, and you’ll be surprised how often you’ll use it. You’ll need metadata to be able to use your data properly in future years and you’ll certainly need it when the person who originally collected or processed the data leaves your organization. Think of metadata as legacy information.
