Long Term Recovery Groups Local resource organized to address disaster-related unmet response and recovery needs Maximize available resources through communication, cooperation, collaboration and coordination Most often organized after a disaster May be faith-based or interfaith Should include local government representative, i.e., mayor, trustee, etc.

Long Term Recovery Groups Local resource that is immediately available when needed Can coordinate donated goods and services Resource to coordinate volunteers Assistance is not based on, “triggered” by or limited due to local, state or federal declarations

Long Term Recovery Groups 3 basic types: Long Term Recovery Committee (LTRC) Long Term Recovery Organization (LTRO) Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD)

Long Term Recovery Groups Long Term Recovery Committee (LTRC): Membership – response and recovery agencies, NGOs and faith based organizations May not be a 501(c)(3) Equally shares decision-making authority with partners After each partner has addressed unmet needs LTRC collectively defines remaining unmet needs and tries to find resources, on case-by-case basis May disband once all cases have been closed

Long Term Recovery Groups Long Term Recovery Organization (LTRO): Membership – response and recovery agencies, Non- Governmental Oorganizations and faith-based organizations Operates under a 501(c)(3) Has formal leadership As a group, identifies unmet needs and applies resources from a common pool, on case-by-case basis May disband once all cases have been closed

Long Term Recovery Groups Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COAD): Membership – response and recovery agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations and faith-based organizations May organize under a 501(c)(3) Has formal leadership Facilitate coordination and delivery of local voluntary response and recovery resources during disasters May coordinate with OH VOAD
