7 20 year lifespan Generally lay 2-3 eggs but number of eggs depends on amount of food available Babies need 10 weeks to develop to independence

8 Babies will “earn” their red tail after their first molt (approx one year of age) Molt once a year during the summer –They slowly replace all of their feathers

9 Favorite Foods Mice Rabbits Birds Snakes Insects Need approx 6 oz of food a day. Will attack venomous snakes by exposing a wing for a snake to strike at then the hawk will grab the snake just below its head and kill it.
