Kiasu Project Guidelines for writing
2
INTRODUCTION Start broad and work down to specific hypotheses Contextualize the research (e.g., achievement motivation, indigenous constructs) Review relevant literature on kiasu State hypothesis
3
METHOD Participants (NZ and Singapore) Measurements Procedure Part of the Kiasu paper give examples on how to write a Methods section
4
RESULTS Tell the reader what you are going to do Present the psychometric properties of the scale (M, SD, alpha) for both NZ and Singaporean data Examine the correlation between Social desirability and kiasu (report r and p) Report t-test between NZ and Singapore on Social Desirability- t(df) = ?, p<? As well as means and SDs.
5
RESULTS Report the analysis of covariance results where the independent variable is country (Singapore/NZ) and the covariate is Social desirability Standard reporting includes the F ratio, degrees of freedom, p level as well as the means and standard deviations Table would be useful for the psychometric data
6
DISCUSSION Start specific- what were the results and was the hypothesis confirmed? Discuss the findings- why did you get those results? Mention any limitations to the study Consider making recommendations for future research Talk about what the study tells us about kiasu/indigenous constructs/achievement motivation across culture
