Physical Characteristics Protective coloring camouflages them from prey. Thick as a telephone pole. Often over 20 feet long. Eyes and nostrils are on top of head.

Behavioral Characteristics If bothered, bite deeply into flesh. Hiss or fake a strike like a venomous snake. Very accurate and dangerous hunter.

Habitat Swamps of South America. Mostly in water but sometimes on land for short periods of time. Deep bodies of water.

Food preferences They eat ducks. Fish and small deer.

Other Interesting Facts They have six rows of teeth to hold their prey. Called a water boa because they are mostly in the water.
