7. Multiplication Tips for 1 and 2 1 Any number multiplied by 1 equals that number. 8 x 1 = 8 3 x 1 = 3 1 x 5 = 5 2 Whenever you multiply by 2, the answer will be an even number. Multiplying a number by 2 is just like adding that number to itself. 6 x 2 = 12 6 + 6 = 12

8. Multiplication Tips for 3 and 4 3 To check your answer of something multiplied by 3: separate the digits in the answer and add them together until you get a single digit. It should be a multiple of 3. 3 x 6 = 18 1 + 8 = 9 = multiple of 3 4 Take the number multiplied by 4. Double it, then double that answer for your final answer.

9. Multiplication Tips for 5 and 6 5 The answer of an even number times 5 ends in 0. The answer of an odd number times 5 ends in 5. 6 Any number multiplied by 6 equals an even number. When you multiply 6 by an even number, the answer will end in that even number. 6 x 2 = 12 6 x 4 = 24 6 x 6 = 36 6 x 8 = 48

10. Multiplication Tips for 7 and 8 7 Sadly, there are no real tips for the 7s in multiplication. You simply need to memorize them. 8 In the answer of a number multiplied by 8, the second digit is a multiple of 2. Also, as you multiply up, that second digit counts down (by 2s) from 8 to 0. 8 x 1 = 8 8 x 2 = 16 8 x 3 = 24 8 x 4 = 32 8 x 5 = 40 8 x 6 = 48

11. Multiplication Tips for 9 and 10 9 As you multiply by 9, the first digit of the answer increases while the second digit decreases. 9, 18, 27, 36, etc. 10 Anything multiplied by 10 will end in a zero. Take the number you are multiplying by 10 and stick a zero on the end for your answer.

C.3 x 6 = 18. 6 x 2 or 6 + 6 = 12. 12 + 6 or 6 x 3 = 18. D.10 x 4 = 40. Take the 4 and stick a zero on the end: 40. E.5 x 5 = 25. 16. Answers to Challenges 5 x 4 = 20 20 x 3 = 60 (2 x 3 = 6 then put the 0 on the end) 60 x 2 = 120 (6 x 2 = 12 then put the 0 on the end) 120 x 1 = 120 Answer = 120  12 x 5: 10 x 5 = 50. Add two more 5s to get 12 x 5. 50 + 5 + 5 = 60 12 x 5 = 60  20 x 6 = 120 (2 x 6 = 12 then put the 0 on the end)  11 x 9: 1 x 9 = 9. For 11 x 9, put two 9s next to each other. 11 x 9 = 99  100 x 10: Put the 0 from 10 on the end of 100. 100 x 10 = 1000
