1. Celebrating 40 Years of Service

2.  Created in 1973, we inform and advise the governor, state legislature, state agencies, and the public on disability policy.  Also act on matters of ADA compliance, building code, emergency preparedness, transportation, employment, and Olmstead.  Help legislators review bills that will impact Minnesotans with disabilities.

3.  MSCOD conducts a number of outreach events in the community: ◦ Legislative Forum ◦ Town Hall Meetings ◦ Minnesota State Fair ◦ Employment Awards Event ◦ ADA Celebration ◦ Co-sponsoring events with community partners

4.  We review all bills that are authored during session to study impact on disability community. ◦ There are common issues that arise. ◦ There are also a number of unique bills that emerge each session.

5.  Many issues are still forming for next year, but there a few issues that have our early attention: ◦ Implementation (and concurrent legislation) of Minnesota’s Olmstead Plan. ◦ Parts of the building code. ◦ The 5% Campaign. ◦ Alleviating homelessness. ◦ As always, disability parking.
