3. T HEIR LIFE TO OURS The Greeks believed in 12 major gods. Greeks only had one kind of hat- which was for traveling. In Greece, you weren’t considered an adult until you were 30 years old. If you were in a higher class with a bigger house, you would have a kitchen, a bathroom, a dining room, a living room, and your own courtyard. Back then, most people made their own clothes. Because we are not Greek, we don’t believe in those gods. We have many different kinds of hats- for different uses. Today, we are considered adults when we are about 18 years old. Today, in almost every house, we have a kitchen, a bathroom, a dining room, and a living room. However, not many of us have our own courtyard. We don’t usually make our own clothes; we buy them. 4. C ONTRIBUTIONS TO FUTURE CIVILIZATIONS Theatre was very popular in Ancient Greece. They invented three types of plays. The first type they invented was the tragedy. Today, tragedies are found in many movies where one or more actors suffer a horrid ending. Comedies and satire were invented next. The Greeks invented the Olympic Games. Today, we have the Summer and Winter Games every two years.
