GIE/EIG EUMETNET EUMETNET Nowcasting 2015-2017 WP1 Description of end users’ needs and system requirements: Recommendations for improving the relation between meteorological services and end users. WP2 Demonstration of the benefit of exchanging additional observations/information on regional and sub-regional scales WP3Verification and testing of the European nowcasting systems: Training and evaluation. WP4 Initiating and coordinating future EU project(s) supporting nowcasting goals: Preparation and submission of project proposals WP5 Establishment of specific ETs aimed at deepening nowcasting systems development under the EUMETNET governance and coordination of their exchange WP6 Assessment of potential for delivering probabilistic nowcasting / very short range EPS information to end users, and recommendations for the implementation of a probabilistic system: Building solutions for probabilistic and very short range forecasting and connection with EPS; development of best practice strategies. WP7Coordination of exchanging knowledge and nowcasting elements between members

GIE/EIG EUMETNET EUMETNET Nowcasting 2015-2017 MS1 Maintaining the ET of the former ‘Nowcasting activity’ (which is possible but not compulsory) and/or recruiting additional ETs under the EUMETNET governance; setting up the coordination between the nowcasting ETs. MS2 Promoting regional/sub-regional/neighbourhood groups of nowcasting experts under the EUMETNET governance for an enhanced cooperation on relevant ASIST themes specifically between regions/sub- regions/neighbourhood. MS3 Encouraging collaboration for common R&D efforts on nowcasting to acquire project funding in order to improve ASIST techniques (assimilation, NWP, probabilistic nowcasting, EPS, etc.) MS4 Maintaining communication for liaising and coordinating with other EUMETNET Programmes/projects/activities as well as end users for the maximal exploitation of improvements in nowcasting MS5 Bridging nowcasting and downstream application tools by improving the real time data exchange between regions/sub-regions/neighbourhood and examining in detail the end user requirements MS6Organizing testbed and training sessions, and evaluation of both MS7Guaranteeing regular exchange of information
