Cooperation Strategy in Polar Regions, ITALY – KOREA workshop, Incheon, 6-8 September, 2011 SAON Board meeting Potsdam, 1 st -2 nd October, 2012 INGV Coordination at National level: Progetto Strategico Artico (PSA)  A programme to reinforce and COORDINATE observational and modelling Italian research activities in the Arctic, better anchoring them in a long-term perspective to the actual international scenario.  First step along the road to realize a National SAON Coordination Committee (NSCC).  Research themes will include (i) atmospheric physics (up to the ionosphere), (ii) marine sciences (mainly costal), (iii) terrestrial ecosystems, (iv) geology and geophysics (including seismology, paleo climate and magnetism, marine geochemistry).  Measurements and field campaigns planned in Svalbard (NYA in particular), Barents Sea and Fram Strait, Greenland.  3 Agencies (CNR, INGV, OGS), 15 U.O., about 200 res./techn. involved.

Yet, no model so far has been clearly recommended. So far, most support has been given to a thematic approach.
