3 Creating a Partnership Program  What is a Partnership Program?  a carefully designed platform to help your Chapter grow, both financially and organizationally  implements strategies to ensure a positive Member experience and a fruitful relationship for human resources service providers.

7 Creating a Partnership Program  Program Components  Chapter Sponsorships “packaged” programs that are typically labeled Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc. usually include discounted pricing for various benefits gives the sponsoring organization exposure throughout the calendar year.

8 Creating a Partnership Program  Program Components  Event Sponsorships “one-time or limited-time” events like a Conference, Networking Event or a Strategic Series. exposure to attendees for a limited time, either before, during and/or after the event can help offset the expenses of conducting a particular event or cover the entire costs of the event.

9 Creating a Partnership Program  Program Components  Advertising and/or Marketing Opportunities “one-time or limited-time” activities Examples: newsletter advertising and direct mail.

12 Creating a Partnership Program  Partnership Director:  Has strategic direction and authority over all aspects of the Partnership Program  Should able to manage a team of folks  Preferably have a background in sales  Should be a “big picture” thinker.

13 Creating a Partnership Program  Sponsorship Chair:  could also be the Partnership Director  should have the same attributes  be able to handle all aspects of vendor relations

14 Creating a Partnership Program  Sponsorship Chair:  Responsibilities may include: Setting expectations before, during and after events Introducing sponsors at events Ensuring that vendor “presentations” are appropriate and succinct Reviewing advertising/newsletter articles for suitability with Chapter guidelines Surveying vendors to ensure expectations were met Thanking vendors both during and after events

15 Creating a Partnership Program  Fulfillment Chair  Ensures that each Chapter Partner gets everything they’ve purchased  Should be detailed oriented and great at following-up.

16 Creating a Partnership Program  Vendor Directory Chair  The potential fourth player on the team  This person secures vendor companies and manages and markets the Directory  Should work closely with the Partnership Director to ensure Chapter goals and qualifications (if any) are met.

17 Creating a Partnership Program  Vendor Directory  Challenges: How do you vet potential vendors? What kind of liability does the Chapter have by promoting certain organizations? Will you limit the number of vendors by industry? If so, how many? Some vendor partners may be able to discount their services. Others may not.

19 Creating a Partnership Program  Final Thoughts  Know your Chapter’s demographics!  Have a vendor “Code of Conduct.” What are vendors allowed to do? What can’t they do?  Require vendors to also be SHRM members and affiliate with your Chapter!  Let your sponsors introduce themselves

20 Creating a Partnership Program  Final Thoughts  Align Partner core competencies with Chapter meeting topics.  Provide analytics around “click-throughs” and “open rates” on advertising  Partner with business associations and chambers in your community; business leaders need to understand the importance of HR!
