3 HISTORY o Is a central square of the city Munich, Germany o Has been around since 1158, and has always been the city’s main square o Markets and tournaments were held in this city in the Middle Ages o The Marienplatz moved to near the Viktualienmarkt in 1807, but that didn’t stop it from being the city’s focal point

6 Basic Information Neuhauser Strasse and Kaufinger Strasse run through Marienplatz. Together they make the hearts of Munich’s pedestrian zone. Both are major shopping streets. Comprise of large department stores.
