 To be a creative writer you have to have knowledge about the English language, communications and media, fine arts, sales, marketing, and psychology.  You don’t have to have a high school diploma, but it is better if you have one.  Statistics show that 47.9 percent of writers have their Bachelor's degree.

 The skills needed for being a writer or author are: active listening, social perceptiveness, time management, writing, and reading comprehension.  To be a writer is to have a creative way of thinking and neat ideas that you can put down on paper for anyone and everyone to see.

 If I worked as a writer in Iowa and I got paid median wage, I would make $18.51 an hour, which would make $38,500 a year.  In the other parts of United States if I worked as a writer and I got paid median wages, I would make $25.51 a day and $53,100 a year.

 Unless I work for a big business my health care, benefits, and vacation are all on my own.  So unless I write in a building for a newspaper and have deadlines and other projects like that I have to pay for my own health care.

 To originate and prepare written material, such as scripts, stories, advertisements, and other material is what writers do.  I think that a writer is a job a lot of people really want so it might be harder to find a job in California then in Iowa, considering the amount of people.

 For a writer an advancement opportunity would be to write more scripts and books then more money would come in.  I don’t think schooling is required as I stated in an earlier slide and its how much books you make.

 A typical day in the life of a writer can consist of these things: teach writing classes, write narrative, dramatic, lyric, or other types of poetry for publication, attend book launches and publicity events, or conduct public readings, and confer with clients, editors, publishers, or producers to discuss changes or revisions to written material.

 I think I will like my job as a writer because it’s something I like to do.  I wouldn’t mind writing on various topics because I already have experience writing for the Waverly paper.  I think I will like this job.  I have written for a newspaper about 5 or 6 times, after writing so many I lost track.
