4 Feedback from the ECIM 8 Plenary sessions were held of 30 min., and about 60 papers/workshops of 45 min., 8 at the same time, so you had to make a choice Demographics (read: aging of staff) will become a problem in the next future, especially for the larger companies DM organization in the larger companies does not differ much from EPE, but a more important role is being given to DM staff in the assets. However: central role of DM remains! Focused Seismic Monitoring (FSM): Use of fibre optic in stead of electrical cables are speeding up seismic survey results. The fibre optic cables are buried in the sea bottom, can be used 20 years!

Jan Jaspers, Oct. 2008 5 Feedback from the ECIM Good presentation on the Project Management cycle, by an external party: PM role sometimes underestimated, but at least 15- 20% of the total project resource time should be reserved. In case of problems the attention should rather be given to the cause and not to the effects. My own presentation concentrated on the added value DM can provide to the Business by ascertaining the availability of complete, correct and consistent data. Large audience, some discussion as well, good feedback received. I suggested to the organization to start inviting a few Subsurface staff, to provide comments, maybe even to make sure we’re on the right path!
