2  Critical Challenges facing HR professionals:  Gaining acceptance as a business partner  Establishing new operations  Recruiting for key positions  Developing compensation and benefits strategies  Establishing and maintaining ethical standards ▪ What is ethical? ▪ Which approach to take?

3  Get a “seat at the table”  Be proactive  Attend, attend, attend

4  Create a staffing plan  What is my timeframe?  What are the needs?  How much skill is necessary?  Which positions are a priority?  What is the talent pool?

5  Invest enough time to understand the nature and scope of the business, key challenges, as well as short and long term objectives.  Develop a comprehensive position description, candidate profile, and target compensation level with the senior executives to whom the position will report.

6  Engage an international search firm that can demonstrate extensive experience in the country and industry involved.  Require the search firm to prepare a realistic assessment of the potential availability of suitable candidates.
