3. We Must Awaken Our Repentance Repentance Is Born From Pain –Sackcloth & Ashes, Luke 10:13. –A torn heart, Joel 2:13. –The product of sorrow, 2 Cor 7:9.

4. We Must Awaken Our Repentance We must resensitize ourselves. –God strives to make us feel like repenting, Romans 2:4. –He wants us to feel guilty so we’ll repent, Acts 2:36-37. –He wants us to fear hell so we’ll feel again, 2 Peter 3:9-10.

5. We Must Awaken Our Repentance We must resensitize ourselves. –Christians often must do the same. We will need repentance again. If we become desensitized, we will regress, Romans 12:2.

6. What Is Repentance? There are many cheap imitations: –Regret. –Matt 27:3-5 Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? See to that yourself!" 5 And he threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself.

7. What Is Repentance? There are many cheap imitations: –Regret. –An apology, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

9. What Is Repentance? Step #1: Come to our senses. Step #2: Change our mind. Step #3: Enter into spiritual life. Step #4: Bear fruit.

10. Is Repentance Possible For You? God thinks so, Matthew 4:17. Christians are living proof, 1 Cor 6:9- 11. The “spiritual nerves” do grow back! Forsake risk and take the leap of faith! Luke 15:20-21.
