3. 1. Ecosystem- a system formed by the interaction of a community of organisms with their environment. 2.

4. The reason for this power point is to show the different ecosystems around our school and what they have in them. We should be able to identify different things in them and see how they affect the environment. Also we were able to learn new things about the soil not only in our environment but in Michigan itself.

5.  An Ecosystem is a natural unit consisting of all plants, animals, and micro- organisms in an area functioning together with all physical factors of an environment.

6.  The Soil in our ecosystem consists of Loamy Soil. Loamy soil is composed of many different sized soil particles, they combine fertility with moisture holding capacity.  Our Soil had an abundant amount of vegetation in it, even though the wildlife was scarce in our ecosystem. It was full of trees and plants that made our environment different.

7. Our Ecosystem is located on the back side of the school near the Jerry White Side of the Building. Across from the staff parking lot.

The Organisms in our ecosystem consisted of worms, woodlouses (roley poleys), and Birds Woodlouses commonly known as roley-poley's need to live in moist areas such as our ecosystem because they breathe through gills. They also feed on dead plant matter and then recycle the matter back into the soil. RP= Woodlouses W= Worms B= Birds

10. - The organisms in our ecosystem were very scarce. They were mostly dead - There was a birds nest but it had no eggs or birds in it -It was pretty dry, and the soil was pretty dry, but still fertile. -There were a lot of weeds and woodchips that we think took away from the ecosystem -This could be explained because of the direct sunlight that our ecosystem is getting. -This could be explained by the weather. The weather may have made the birds move to a different location -The dry soil could be explained by the weather that occurred during the summer and the lack of gardening associated with it. -The woodchips in the ecosystem and weeds took most of the potential beauty our the of ecosystem.

Biotic- pertaining to life. 5. Fertile- bearing, producing, or capable of producing vegetation, crops. 6. Soil- the portion of the earth's surface consisting of disintegrated rock and humus. 7. Woodchips- a small chip of wood, esp. one that flakes off when felling a tree or splitting a log. 8. Organisms- a form of life composed of mutually interdependent parts that maintain various vital processes. 9. 12. There are many ways that we can contribute to our ecosystem in our school. We can make sure that all of the ecosystems around the school are watered and are taken care of. We can help plant plants, and make sure that everything looks neat.
