2 It’s all about the MENISCUS
The surface of the water in a graduated cylinder is generally curved due to the shape of the cylinder. This curved surface is called the MENISCUS. A graduated cylinder is designed to be read at eye level, at the bottom of the meniscus curve.

3 Check the unnumbered marks
Check the numbered marks to see how many sections there are and what they measure. Sometimes you have to estimate a measurement between two marks. What are the volume measurements of these graduated cylinders?
