2. Modify model for pattern Pattern boards are added to the model for pattern production The file is directly imported into ArtCam for cutting on 3D milling machine Pattern is then painted and sent to the foundry to make the castings

3. Gating system layout Risers (green) are added to the casting These risers are used to eliminate shrinkage during solidification of the casting These risers will be removed after the casting process is complete

6. Potential Porosity in Casting Red areas are shrinkages Any small areas will not show up in the final product One more riser needs to be added in area highlighted This would be added in the final design Add riser here

7. Finishing Once casting is poured, risers will be cut off and area is ground to the right shape Casting is cleaned, heat treated and readied for shipping
