ABOUT TAHA Established in 2004 and became operational in 2005 TAHA – an apex private sector association representing the Horticulture industry in Tanzania- a voicing platform for issues concerning horticulture in the country TAHA was established with the aim of promoting and developing horticulture and addressing the general and specific needs of its members.

TAHA has four main Sos: 1. Lobbying and Advocacy- govt and donors, 2. Technical Support– projects, trainings, seminars, shows, etc 3. Information dissemination– media, researchers, govt, consultants, etc 4. Promotion– in and outside Tanzania Strategic Objectives (Sos)

7 key factors for a strong and health value chain: 1. Growers mobilization and capacity building---groups formation, technology advancement, trainings, etc. – ENSURE COMPLIANCE TO GAPS AND other market standards/requirements KEY FACTORS

2. AGRO-INPUT- availability, accessibility and proper utilization 2. Finance– good terms and conditions to allow pay back 2. Government support policies i.e taxes, infrastructure development, extension services, etc KEY FACTORS

5. INFASTRUCTURAL NETWORK Storage and cooling facilities during transportation and storage Irrigation system Reliable power supply Roads and airports Communication network Accredited labs for testing and analysis KEY FACTORS…

CONCLUSION The Public Private Partnership has to be encouraged – complicated and trust should be built Private sector put up a solid case based on the hard core analysis- advocacy should be through solid case Private sector must be very professional well organized and have one voice
