This is my 10 th year teaching. I have taught pre-k, 2 nd, 3 rd, and 4 th grade! Mr. Byrne is our student teacher this year. We are very glad to have him here. He and I will be “co-teaching” for the entire first semester.

School starts promptly at 9:15! Please be on time! When you arrive in the class, please… *move your name on the Smartboard to show you are here *put your things away and get out all materials *make sure you have a few books on your desk for independent reading time *quietly read

Lunch is from 12:20-12:45 for our class. The lunch menu is available online at www.nkcschools.org. Be sure you know your lunch number! My Payment account is free and easy to use! Payments post much quicker!

Recess is from 1:05-1:35. Expected to be involved in an activity the entire time. We have a 100% hands-off policy! Any student with incomplete work will be required to complete it before they go play at recess. There are no exceptions.

We begin preparing for dismissal at 4:00 every day. Students will stay in class until their bus, or mode of transportation is called. During this time, students may silently read, or get a jumpstart on the days homework!

Fourth graders do have more homework than previous grades, but should be no more than 40 minutes each night. Develops responsibility and time management skills. Reinforces skills taught in class Reading 20 min. minimum and math fact practice expected each night Reading Logs due every Friday and are worth 25 points each week!

Our school earns WILDCATS as a positive reward for demonstrating appropriate behavior. (See end slides). Individual students and the whole class can earn Wildcats for following our class norms and being responsible in all areas. Wildcats earn parties. Students may also earn Paw Prints that will be used to “shop” randomly. Feel free to donate items for kids to “buy” from the shop!

We are an eMINTS classroom! This means that we will be doing many wonderful projects throughout the year and incorporate technology throughout! Please make sure you read and sign the Acceptable Use Policy! Inappropriate computer use will not be tolerated!

We will take several field trips this year! Information on field trips will come out as each field trip approaches. We will be looking for volunteers to help out on these trips, so watch for info in future newsletters!
