3 Steps for finding density  Find the mass of an object by placing it on the balance (units: g)

4 Step Two  Find the volume of an object by:  Regular shaped object such as a cube:  V=L x W x H  Measure with a meter stick and multiply the three values (units: cm 3 )  Irregular shaped object such as a rock:  Measure in a graduated cylinder  Fill the cylinder half way and read the level of the water  Drop in the object and read the level again  Subtract the two numbers to get the volume of the object (units ml)
