1 st Day of School Separation Anxiety (kids and PARENTS!) Striving for safety, independence, and routines Supplies (backpack-change of clothes, healthy snack, sweater, no school supplies required, no toys) Line up on the yellow line in the courtyard.

Students Hang backpacks on hooks outside classroom. Put lunchbox and water on cart. Go to your classroom. Meet a new friend!

Label Everything! Just in case……we do have a Lost and Found!

Parents Parents please stay for the 1st half hour of class for a classroom tour, a few activities and pictures. Boo Hoo Breakfast provided by Community Club begins at 8:45 a.m. Meet a new friend!

Typical Daily Schedule 8:00 Earliest drop off time Morning Recess 8:10 Bell rings 8:15 Class starts Opening, Language Arts, Writing, Centers 9:45-10:00 Recess 10:00 Class Instruction Read Aloud, Math 11:20 Lunch 12:05 Class Instruction Read Aloud, Science, Social Studies, Kindergarten Centers 1:30 Dismissal (11:35 Tuesday/Minimum Day Dismissal)

Lunch 1 st Homework Assignment - Practice lunch #! Cost $2.75 hot lunch, $.35 milk Drop box in the office or make payments on line for a small fee. After three unpaid lunches, only cheese and crackers provided. Check account regularly.

Pick Up Procedures Students will sit on the grass and wait to be dismissed. For safety, students need to wait until the TEACHER says goodbye to them.

Use the crosswalks! Pick up line for cars. Stay in your car.

Assessments First two weeks of school-Individual testing appointments after 11:35 a.m. dismissal. Mark times and dates in your calendar for your child’s appointment. Results will give us a baseline for each student and help us plan according to their needs. Student progress will be discussed during parent conferences in November 16-20

Computer Lab Imagine Learning ST Math (Jiji) Teamwork Tuesdays-PE, Intro. Spanish, Language Experience, Computer Lab

Homework Homework will be sent home beginning on Friday, September 18 th. Homework will be sent home on Friday to be returned the following Thursday. Supplies suggested to have at home (scissors, glue, pencils, crayons, paper, Homework Kit) Parent Homework Night Thursday, September 17 th at 6:00 pm in the MPR.

1 st Day Packets Please fill out forms on our website: vejarelementary.org and return the confirmation page Other items to turn in: white disaster card and Blue Student Information sheet Remember to update emergency cards when you change phone numbers. Need email addresses from each family. Many notes will be sent by email. Volunteers
