1. N.E.H.S National English Honor Society First Meeting

2. About NEHS The National English Honor Society is oriented towards expanding and elevating the English language; our purpose being to unite people who share our same dedication toward reading and writing. We strive to better our community through activities such as book drives and English themed tutoring but we also seek to expand our own horizons by participating in book fairs and writing workshops.

3. Club Fee There is a $25 dollar fee for induction. This money will be directed toward club shirts and merchandise to fundraise. To be paid by October 12 th

4. Requirements Must have a minimum cumulative English GPA of 3.0, as well as a 3.0 unweighted GPA. Fundraise by selling AT LEAST one box of Cupcakes/TBA ;) The completion of twenty (20) volunteer hours throughout the school year. Fees have to be paid ON TIME.

5. Activities We will be participating in volunteer events such as book drives and tutoring sessions. (More information to come in second meeting.) Other activities will be NaNoWriMo, Back To The Classics Month, Scholastics Writing contest, and many more. Fieldtrips to the book fair and author signings are still being taken into consideration. 6. Meeting Organization Meetings will be held every second and fourth Monday of every month. Maximum of four nonconsecutive absences throughout the school year. You must stay the full length of the meeting or it will count as an absence. General meeting information:

7. Disruptive Behavior Members should keep in mind that we reserve the right to expel anyone from the society due to disruptive behavior. Excessive absences, vexatious yelling, rude comments, and anything else deemed inappropriate by the sponsor and the officers is fair ground to be removed from the club.

If you don’t have access to twitter, we will also send updates through our email: NEHSdoral@gmail.com. This is also a viable option through which you could contact us in case of any questions or concerns. The NEHS board is located in front of Ms. Amaro;s room (218 A) and it has information about upcoming events/meetings.
