2 A College & Career Fair is coming to LC on Wed. Sept. 30 and we want you to be able to attend as part of your High School and Beyond Plan requirement for graduation. Required: You must complete a very short survey on Naviance. (Do it now if you are in a computer lab or in a classroom which has a cow you can use. You are also allowed to use your personal phone to complete this task now.) Here’s how you do it: 1.Log in to www.lctigers.comwww.lctigers.com 2.Click on Naviance Link (under Quick Links on the right) 3.Log in (username is your student #, password is tigers) 4.Click on link to High School and Beyond plan survey at the top of the page and complete the survey. 9 Here’s the bad news… According to numerous studies and research, students who are not involved in extracurricular activities are at significantly higher risk for: DROPPING OUT BEING INVOLVED WITH DRUGS & ALCOHOL BEING ARRESTED BECOMING TEEN PARENTS

10  According to the University of Michigan, teens who are involved in activities during high school are more likely than teens who didn’t participate in any organized activities to have higher grades as high school seniors and to still be in college six years later (Swanbrow 1). These results were produced at the University of Michigan by tracking 1,259 sophomores for six years.  LET’S HEAR FROM AN EXPERT IN COLLEGE ADMISSIONS… Here’s the GOOD NEWS!

13  Do you have a paying job or regular volunteer commitment outside of school and want to see if you can get high school credit for it?  If you answered yes, please raise your hand and fill out the form your teacher gives to you.  Another teacher will be contacting you to see if you qualify to earn credit! Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:

14 Take a look at your Getting Involved handout the teacher provides to you and answer the questions on the first page. How can you benefit from getting involved?
