7 America...a history of war and conflict - many compare the history of the USA with the history of the Roman Empire. What are the comparisons? - Both are empires (in a relative sense with respect to America)‏ - Both invested heavily in the military and had/have the most dominant military - Both used the military to impose, influence and control strategically important regions. - Both have suffered similar pitfalls economically (severe debt), politically (corruption and scandal)‏ - Rome collapsed. Why? - Is the USA next?
