Assignment - Topic Select a famous person who demonstrates perseverance in his/her life Research this person while staying focused on perseverance. HINT: THIS IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR WORK Research not designed to be a biography of the person’s entire life.

Assignment Choose 2 of 3 genres Creative Technical Response Write an article about your person (at least 3 paragraphs) Must include Internal citation Thesis statement(s) Present commencement speech to a graduation class Must speak from the point of perseverance and how it will help these students in the future

Creative – Pick 1 Comic/Political Cartoon with explanation Wanted poster with explanation Vanity License Plates (3) on different aspects of your person’s life with explanations (3) Bumper Stickers (3) on different aspects of your person’s life with explanations(3) Perseverance

Technical– Pick 1 ( Each of these may not be appropriate for each person being researched. Select carefully. Map with explanation Chart or diagram with explanation Resume Time-line with explanation Perseverance

Response– Pick 1 ( Responses must be between your person and an important person in his/her life. You must remember to focus on perseverance. E-mails Can use e-mail even if it was not available at the time Love/like letters One page Perseverance

Final Assessment You are to give a commencement address as if you are the person you researched. Appropriate for those who are embarking on the next stage of their lives Focus on the theme of perseverance. Three to five (3-5) minutes long Have two copies when you present One is for you to use One is to turn in before giving your speech. You might want to dress as your person to achieve the points for creatively taking on the persona. Perseverance

If author’s name is in sentence, only put page number Gray concluded that research is essential for seventh grade students to learn in order to succeed in higher grades and college (365). Note punctuation!

Works Cited Page Titled in the middle Works Cited Sources in alphabetical order from the first word whether it is an author website article name Remember, if two articles begin the same way, you need to go to where there is a unique letter to decide on placement.
