Hebrews 4:14-16 “Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.”

What Can We Learn From The Priests? God takes sin very, very seriously. We are allowed access to God on His terms…not on our terms. Our best efforts in dealing with sin is to manage it. We can never eliminate it.

Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “ELI, ELI LAMA SABACHTHANI?” that is, “MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSKEN ME?” And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to bottom, and the earth shook; and the rocks were split, and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saint who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the thins that were happening, became very frightened and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!” Matthew 27:45-54

The common denominator in all of these situations is that someone has to step up! Someone needs to be the unselfish leader. Someone needs to sacrifice. Someone needs to stop caring about being rejected or inconvenienced. Someone needs to meet the need. Someone needs to open their mouth and say the hard, but loving thing. Someone needs to be bold and courageous. Someone needs to stop fearing the consequences and have confidence in the one true living God. Someone needs to make a difference. Brother, that someone is YOU!
