The study of microorganisms.
3
Microorganisms are living things so tiny they can only be seen through a microscope.
4
Microbiologists also deal with the structure, classification, physiology, and distribution of microorganisms, and their technical and medical significance. Microbiologists deal with the biology of Protozoa, Algae, Fungi, Bacteria, and viruses.
5
This is Escherichia coli (E.coli), one of the many organisms microbiologists study. The one on the right is pictured in a culture.
8
Microbiologists study microorganisms. At Rose Bay, there are hundreds of organisms which can be studied. We can learn a lot from studying microorganisms and find cures for some diseases that are caused by microorganisms and bacteria.
9
Microbiologists also study Candida albicans, which is a Fungus.
10
Microbiologists work with the cultivation of bacteria or other organisms in artificial media or under artificial conditions. Cultures are the collection of organisms resulting from such a cultivation.
