1. Pool Table Project

2. Object of the Project:
To trace the path a pool ball will make around the table after it is hit by the cue ball.
The TRICK: The angle at which the ball hits the side is the same angle it will make leaving the side!
Grading:
5 – Correct set-up of pool table shot, neatly and professionally presented. All 12 terms correctly identified and defined.
4 – Correct set-up of pool table shot, neatly and professionally presented. One minor error in term identifications or definitions.
3 – Correct set-up of pool table shot, neatly and professionally presented. Two minor errors in term identifications or definitions.
2 – Incorrect set-up of pool table shot but it is neatly and professionally presented OR correct set-up which is NOT neatly and professionally presented OR more than two errors in term identifications or definitions.
1 – Incorrect set-up of pool table shot which is neatly and professionally presented AND errors in term identifications or definitions OR correct set-up which is NOT neatly and professionally presented AND more than two errors in term identifications or definitions.

3. Step 1: Preparing the table
Put a 1 inch border of brown on the green construction paper.

Draw in the six pockets. They should be about the same size as the example.

5. Step 2:
Draw a cue ball and the ball at which you will aim it.

6. Step 3:
Trace the path of the ball you are hitting in pencil using the rule “Angle In = Angle Out”.
Use your protractor and write the measure of each angle you create on the table.

7. Step 4:
Be sure the ball hits the side of the table AT LEAST TWICE before entering a pocket. If not, change the placement of one of the balls. If you hit 4 times and don’t go in, STOP.

8. Step 5:
Draw some other balls on the table, making sure they are clear of the path of the ball you are hitting.

9. Step 6:
Identify at least 12 features on the table that correspond to terms that you have learned so far in the course.
Number the features on the table and include a list on the back of the table.
The list must show:
The number of the feature shown on the table.
The term that feature represents.
A definition of that term.

10. Step 7:
Put your name on the front of the table
