(should already be done…) Sample: any portion of a population Sampling: collecting information (data) from a fraction of a population Statistics: measurements generated from a sample (for example, mean, median, or mode) Simple random sample (SRS): a “fair” sample, where every possible sample of a given size has an equal chance of being selected for use.

Bias: when one portion of a population is favored over another one Census: counting every member of a population

Mean: the average, found by first adding all the numbers together, and then dividing that total by how many numbers there are to begin with. Median: the middle number, found by putting the numbers in LEAST to GREATEST order and then finding the middle (if two numbers are in the middle, average them) Mode: the number that occurs MOST often in the list.
