5. Samuel de Champlain The reason he went on his voyage is because he wanted to discover a water route across the continent. The result of Samuel de Champlain’s voyage is he took his crew half way out the St. Lawrence River and met the Algonquin Indians. They told him not to go any farther, so Samuel stayed where he was and traded with the Indians.
