* Teachers will work in grade level teams to begin creating instructional guides aligned to Common Core ELA Standards * The focus will be on Units 4 and 5 * Essential questions, vocabulary and resources will be compiled for each standard

* Teachers will have an thorough understanding of essential questions. * Teachers will have time and access to compile online resources for units. * Units 4 and 5 for each grade level will be complete and ready for piloting in January.

Standard: RL.4.3 Describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., a character's thoughts, words, or actions). How does an author use elements to influence the readers thinking? Why is the setting important to the story? What is the author’s purpose for choosing specific details in the text?
