2. NASCAR was formed in 1948 Race cars have been transformed from road-going, lumbering true "stock" cars into the sleek, technologically advanced machines that we see today. Now a days Stock car racing is the most-popular form of auto racing, especially in North America. The main stock car racing series is NASCAR's Nextel Cup, and among the most famous races in the series are the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400. 3. As a kid I always used to go to Brighton with my dad to watch the stock car races. We would always place bets on certain cars just for fun to see who would win. This then became a tradition on Saturday nights. I never really enjoyed watching the races to see who would win, it was more to beat my family’s bets and look at the crazily designed cars. So learning more about this topic is quite interesting, seeing as I never really knew much about what I was watching.

4. A race car driver makes thousands to millions of dollars by racing their cars around a track. The amount of times they win races, how many years they have been racing, their number of starts, their prevous years points, their age and the number on their car makes an impact on the amount of money each driver recieves every year.
