Introduction A region is area with common features that set it apart from different areas. There are 5 regions in the United States. They are the Northeast, the Southeast, the Middle- West, the Southwest, and the West. There are 4 regions in New Jersey. They are The Atlantic Coastal Plains, Peidmont, Highlands, and Ridge and Valley.

The Northeast We live in this region
The Appalachian Mountains run through most of the states in this region This region has all four seasons summer, winter, fall, and spring The Coastal Plains are in this region. They are a flat lowland along the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Southeast Warm all year Crisscrossed with rivers
Large area of wet lands- swamps, marshes, and bayous example Everglades Davis Bayous-marshy slow moving stream

Middle West Made of interior plains
Great Plains in the Middle West, cold winters/ hot summers, produces wheat. Produces corn Central Plain- in the east, low elevation, produces corn

Southwest This region shares the Great Plains with the Midd-West
Mostly made up of high plateaus, plains, and deserts One of the most famous landforms in this region is the Grand Canyon The Rocky Mountains appear in this region as well as the West

West The redwood trees that grow in Oregon and California are the tallest trees in the world The Great Basin is in this region Landforms include mountains, plateaus, and Valleys

Atlantic Coastal Plain
We live in this region Largest region of all New Jersey regions- covers more than half of NJ home to the Pinelands

Piedmont NJ's greatest population- borders NY city
Located at the foothills Palisades forms the eastern border Fall line separates this region from the ACP

Highlands Most of NJ's lakes are found here
The town of Franklin is known for "glowing" rocks

Ridge and Valley Home to the Delaware Water gap and High Point State park Dairy farming is an important business Appalachian Mountains runs through this region
