It’s harvest time, and workers are busy picking apples. The apples must be moved to the other side of the orchard. The challenge is design a container to carry as many apples possible.
3
What properties of apples do you need to consider when you design? What are some different ways that you carry items? Do apples stack neatly? What questions do you have about the challenge?
4
1.Draw out your design. 2.Share your design with the people you are sitting by. 3.Create a design together.
5
1.How would you carry your apple container? 2.What kind of material will you use? 3.How does your container keep apples from rolling out?
6
1.Do you think your design will be successful? 2.How many apples will your container carry? 3.How could you improve your design?
7
1.Differentiation 2.How could this activity be simpler? 3.How could this activity be more difficult?
8
What materials could you use? Apples Paper plates Craft sticks Straws Paper clips Foil Wax paper Foam trays
