SIEVE Mail Filtering WG IETF 69, Chicago WG Chairs: Cyrus Daboo, Alexey Melnikov Mailing List: Jabber: sieve@jabber.ietf.org

Agenda Introduction (blue sheets, scribe etc), agenda bashing ( 2 mins) Document status review( 3 mins) 3028bis Status(10 mins) Editheader Status( 5 mins) Mime Loops(15 mins) Sieve Notify status ( 5 mins) Sieve Notify Mailto status ( 5 mins) Reject/Refuse Status(10 mins) Other (non-WG) documents: –Date-time( 5 mins) –iHave(10 min) –Notary(10 min) –IMAP Sieve(10 mins) –Mailbox metadata access(10 min) –Externally stored lists (10 min) –RegEx Status (10 mins)

Working Group Status Drafts approved: –Vacation, Variables, Relational update, Spamtest update, IMAPFlags, Sub-address update These are in the RFC Editor Queue blocked on 3028bis In IESG evaluation: –draft-ietf-sieve-3028bis-12 (blocked in Cullen's DISCUSS) –Body (IETF LC Completed) In WGLC/WGLC completed: –draft-ietf-sieve-notify-xmpp –Editheader (interaction with mail loop prevention, otherwise ready for IESG) –Notify extension (ready for IESG, Cyrus to do write-up) –Mailto Notification method (another WGLC?) Others: –Refuse/Reject – no update (will be discussed later) –MIME Loops – 03 is out, ready for WGLC?

3028bis Current: draft-ietf-sieve-3028bis-12.txt IETF LC completed During IESG review Cullen raised DISCUSS on mail loop prevention

Editheader Philip posted draft-ietf-sieve-editheader-09.txt Addresses most of the remaining issues (.e.g. mail loop handling) Philip will publish a new revision that –adds text saying that editheader can chose to ignore modifications due to policy reasons –In Security Considerations: add text saying that addition of Received are allowed, but deletions of Received will be ignored

Notification Draft Current drafts: –draft-ietf-sieve-notify-08 Changes since -07: Added a new "set" modifier for URL percent-encoding Clarified that notification methods must address notification loops Added an implementation consideration for implementations that use URIs internally. -08 addresses all known issues. Cyrus will be sending it to IESG.

Reject/Refuse Work has stalled for a while Aaron Stone has volunteered to co-edit the document and move things forward. Aaron will do the following changes as per consensus at the IETF 67: –Revert back to two actions (reject and ereject) –Add more details on how MDNs and DSNs should be generated.

Date-time Ready for Last Call

iHave

Accessing IMAP per-mailbox annotations from Sieve (Overview) Currently draft-melnikov-sieve-imapext-metadata-01.txt (no update since Prague) –Provides ability to read per-mailbox annotations - metadata test –Allows to test for annotation existence - metadata_exists test –Allows to test for mailbox existence - mailbox_exists test –Allows to explicitly create mailboxes on delivery - ":create" argument to fileinto action

Accessing IMAP per-mailbox annotations from Sieve (Example) require ["vacation", "mboxmetadata"]; if metadata :is :private "INBOX" "/vendor/isode/vacation" "1" { vacation :handle "holidays" text: I'm on holidays and will reply to your mail upon return.. ; }

Accessing IMAP per-mailbox annotations from Sieve (Open Issues/ToDo) Update examples to match the latest Notify draft Do we need a test for server annotations? –Probably yes Add support for LIST-EXTENDED options? ACL :-)? –Possibly as another extension

Externally stored lists (Overview) Originated from a discussion with Alexandros Vellis. Currently draft-melnikov-sieve-external- lists-01.txt Why? –Want to have externally stored whitelists/ blacklists/ greylists. E.g. Simon Josefsson suggested DNS blacklists –Want to implement personal mailing lists –Don't want to change the script every time list membership changes

Externally stored lists (Overview) How? –Extend the header & envelope tests to accept a new tagged argument :list, which changes the last parameter into one or more names of lists of users –Extend the redirect action with a new tagged argument :list that changes the last parameter to be a name of a list of users

Externally stored lists (Example) # Submission from list members is sent to all members if allof ( envelope :detail :list "to" "mylist", header :contains :list "from" "mylist" ) { redirect :list "mylist"; }

Externally stored lists (Changes since Prague) Allow for absolute URLs as well as opaque identifiers Added some text describing why relative URLs are disallowed (e.g. LDAP) Added security considerations: mailbombs, DoS attacks

Externally stored lists (Open Issues/ToDo) Need to specify exact ABNF for the list identifier –Dave Cridland suggested to use “:” prefix for “opaque identifiers” Add more security considerations: handling outages in the service that provides information about an external list

Milestones - overdue Again! Proposed an update, but already missed some of its milestones

Other Business Sieve Interop in Greece (University of Athens) in Fall ? Have you signed the blue sheet?
