Transition to Teaching Program’s Purpose- Recruit and retain highly qualified midcareer professionals (including highly qualified paraprofessionals) and recent graduates as teachers in high-need schools in high-need school districts. Encourage the development and expansion of alternative routes to certification under state approved programs … 3

Troops to Teachers Program’s Purpose- To recruit, prepare, certify and support former members of the military services as teachers in high-poverty schools. 5

Teacher Quality Partnership Program’s Purpose- Improve student achievement; Improve the quality of new prospective teachers by improving the preparation of prospective teachers and enhancing professional development activities for teachers; Hold teacher preparation programs at institutions of higher education accountable for preparing highly qualified teachers; and Recruit highly qualified individuals, including minorities and individuals from other occupations, into the teaching force. 6

Advanced Credentialing The program provides grants to develop teacher standards that include measures tied to increased student academic achievement and grants to promote outreach, teacher recruitment, and teacher subsidy or teacher support programs—related to teacher certification or credentialing such as the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), or other nationally recognized certification or credentialing organizations. 7
