Strengthened the Capacity of Non-profits & Community Distributed current & emerging training opportunities through website and email Surveyed the sector to provide relevant Brown Bag Lunches on issues such as ( ) Identified gaps, needs & opportunities for training CDVC Developed Capacity

Qualitative Indicators 82.4% of participants feel BBL’s enhance their capacity as domestic violence professionals 86.7% feel that their knowledge of BBL subject matter has increased as a result of attending 89.2% feel that they will use the knowledge gained from BBL’s in professional practice 92% feel that they learned best practice information from BBL’s

CDVC Informed & Influenced Senior decision makers around a framework for ending domestic violence Submitted position papers regarding: o Input from the Province’s Early Childhood Development Strategy o Impact of Provincial budget cuts on continuum of care o Impact of the 2013 Alberta Floods

Much Success! In 2012, CDVC met with the Minister of Health, advocating for a domestic violence screening policy In 2013, Minister Ambrose was quoted in the Calgary Herald “I have now asked the Public Health Agency of Canada to identify opportunities and partnerships that will help end family violence in Canada within the health profile” CDVC Informed & Influenced

Much Success! In 2012, CDVC hosted a community consultation to provide input into the Government of Alberta’s Social Policy Framework In February 2013, the framework was released, having CDVC’s recommendations encompassed in the document CDVC Informed & Influenced

Much Success! In 2013, CDVC was able to inform the Government of Alberta on the development of Family Violence Hurts Everyone CDVC Informed & Influenced

CDVC Responded Collaboratively To influence public attitudes Developed a Coordinated Communications Plan Coordinated & integrated external communications: website, e-news, Twitter, Facebook Hosted “Break the Silence” Family Violence Prevention Month Partnered with two 3 rd Party Events: One Billion Rising & Ghosts of Violence ballet

CDVC Responded Collaboratively To strengthen networks of service Coordinated & Supported the work of CDVC and Sub-Committees Developed Key Messages Represented CDVC at CACHH, RESOLVE, Calgary Poverty Reduction Initiative In response to 2013 Floods, initiated a task team to develop a coordinated response for those unable to access safe & affordable housing o Disaster preparedness training, legal remedies & peer support services
