Household Hazardous Waste Days June 1 and November 2, 2013 Limits: 100 pounds of dry household hazardous waste materials, 25 fluorescent bulbs, and/or 10 gallons of liquid waste for free. Scale charge for larger quantities. Examples of waste include lead & oil based paints, stains, paint thinner, ammonia, driveway sealer, lighter fluid, printing ink, fuel oils, brake fluid, lubricants, pool chemicals, chlorine, mercury, acids, hazardous batteries, fluorescent bulbs, etc. **Contact office for larger quantities** (973-579-6998) Electronic Waste Days* *Landfill ban on certain electronics See informational pamphlet or website See informational pamphlet or website March 16, May 4, July 20 & October 5 Limits: Up to 5 items for free / per vehicle. Scale charge for larger quantities. Examples of E - Waste include computer systems, printers, televisions, VCR’s, DVD & CD players, fax machines, copiers, radio & stereo equipment, cell phones, and other electronic media devices. Medical Waste Days First Thursday of the Month Home Generators may drop off Non-Regulated Medical Waste at SCMUA facility. Fee charged by vendor Hours 10 am to 12 pm Document Destruction Third Friday of the Month Documents professionally shredded by Vendor Cost is $6.00 Min. per grocery paper bag No Limit Hours 9 am to 12 pm Convenience Center Recyclable HazardousElectronic Waste Residents of Sussex County may dispose of their solid waste at the Residents Convenience Center. Residents are charged a per pound rate for disposal. Recyclable, Hazardous and Electronic Waste materials must be removed prior to disposal. Recycling Center The SCMUA Solid Waste Facility provides a comprehensive Recycling Center for Sussex County residents & businesses. These services are free of charge to residents The following items may be recycled at our Recycling Center: Commingled Bottles & Cans - Containers (glass, plastic #1 - #7, cartons & aluminum) (glass, plastic #1 - #7, cartons & aluminum) Chipboard (food, cereal & other gray paperboard) Office Paper & Junk Mail Shredded Paper Cardboard, Newsprint Motor Oil, Antifreeze Clothing Cell Phones (For Soldiers) American Flag Disposal Household Batteries – New sorting requirements See informational pamphlet or website See informational pamphlet or website *The SCMUA does NOT recycle plastic bags! Please take bags to your local grocery store to be recycled! * Vegetative Waste Leaves, grass clippings and brush can be dropped off by residents, municipal collection crews & commercial haulers. When in stock, both the finished compost material & woodchip mulch are available to the public for landscaping purposes. The SCMUA offers colorized black & red mulch at a nominal fee. See rate schedule for charges. A reminder from the SCMUA that recycling is the law. Please do your part to remove all recyclable and hazardous materials from your trash for everyone’s safety and to save landfill space.
