Superior Court of California, County of Alameda What is Language Access? The goal of our language access efforts is to provide services to assist limited English proficient individuals obtain the same access to and understanding of court services as a native English speakers. Guiding Values and Principles for Language Access: Comparable court services and supports are delivered in the preferred language of the population served. Written materials are translated based on the needs of court users. Translation services comply with all relevant mandates governing language access. Our community continues to work with the court in improving language access. Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals: Individuals who do not speak English as their primary language and are unable to speak, read, write, or understand English at a level that permits effective interaction with the court.
