2. I - Current status of implementation of International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC Rev. 4) in Brazil 1/6 The official Brazilian Industry Classification is CNAE ver. 2.0. CNAE 2.0 is derived from ISIC rev. 4 and followed the same scheduled time for the revision of ISIC Rev. 4. Its implementation in the statistical system and business registers of public administration in Brazil occurred on January 1, 2007.

II - Remarks of Brazil to the next revision of ISIC based on specific needs for revision of CNAE SECTION A - Agriculture, forestry and fishing a)Seeds and seedlings - ISIC rev. 4 - 011 (Growing of non- perennial crops), 012 (Growing of perennial crops) and 013 (Plant Propagation) b)Growing of crops combined with animal production - ISIC Rev. 4 – 0150 (Mixed farming) Proposal that could be discussed for future adjustment a)Splitting division 01 into two different divisions: i.growing of crops; and ii.animal production 2/6

II - Remarks of Brazil to the next revision of ISIC based on specific needs for revision of CNAE SECTION C - Manufacturing a)Alcohol production Proposal that could be discussed for future adjustment i.Division 19 - Manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products 3/6 OBS.: Other proposals and issues, specially related to Services, will be detailed according to the calendar of next revision.

III - Report on the stage of development of a national classification of products based on CPC ver. 2.0/2.1 Current nomenclature of products used for statistical purposes since 1998 is the PRODLIST PRODLIST follows PRODCOM Model (Activities – derived from CPA). A national classification of products based on the CPC 2.0/2.1 is still in development. 4/6

6. III - Report on the stage of development of a national classification of products based on CPC ver. 2.0/2.1 The application of this classification in the statistical system is still a matter of discussion.  Transition from a product classification model based on activity to a CPC model taking into account the SNA rules; 5/6

7. IV - Some issues that is relevant to point out: 1)Outline a calendar for the revision or update of ISIC; 2)Updating the national classification; 3)CPC ver. 2.1: all documents that support this classification should be translated into Spanish; 4)Observe the experience of other countries. 6/6
