1 WARM BODIES CLIFF SCENE V.S. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN CLIFF SCENE BY: JACK AND JAKE

2 WHAT DOES THE CLIFF REPRESENT? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYpsS8wmok4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYpsS8wmok4 (Pirates 1:20-1:54) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThwOktfq-FEhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThwOktfq-FE (Warm Bodies 0:04-0:22) In Warm Bodies the cliff represents the hopelessness of their current situation as well as the need for trust in their relationship. In Pirates Of The Caribbean the cliff represents Captain Jack’s selfishness and his desire to survive above all else.

3 THE CAMERA ANGLES AND THEIR MEANING During the cliff jumping scene in Warm Bodies incorporates: A bird’s eye view shot of the stadium to show the viewer the obvious danger of the super high stadium. A medium shot of both the characters (Julie and R) and the fear they are experiencing together. An over the shoulder angle is used to show the connection of trust that they are making while looking at each other. Swish Pan used with a long shot shows off the direness of the situation more by showing the number of bonies. A handicam is used with most of the shots in this scene to demonstrate the fear that R and Julie are feeling in this scene.

4 CAMERA ANGLES AND THEIR MEANING(CONT.) A medium shot is used in this scene when Jack is talking to the zombie which shows the expressions of the other characters to tell us about the characters and their opinions of Jack’s plan to jump. Another medium shot is used later in the scene to show Jack’s attitude going into the jump revealing that he is not taking this seriously which not only reveals something about his character but also something of the general mood of the film which at times can be very light hearted. A long shot with a low angle is used to establish another character trait which is Jack’s fearlessness by showing that the cliff is very high in the air and would be dangerous to jump off of it into the water below. A close-up shot is used to show how scared Jack is when the zombie threw the doll off of the cliff. It also shows how worried he is that he might not survive.
