5 Our Thinking l DVTS is an exciting and very useful application l DVTS requires special network support (30Mbps, single stream). If we can solve the DVTS transmission problem especially for inter-domain case, we can support other high performance application globally. l We can use CERNET2 to test large scale DVTS system. DVTS is a very good point to start!

13 Reflector Development l It runs on Linux OS and developed using g++ l It supports IPv4 and IPv6 l It supports Unicast and multicast (SSM and ASM) l It can reflects 20+ streams with gigabit network card l It will be released as Open source very soon source reflector S SSM multicast unicast

16 User Controlled Testing Support
17
17 Lessons We learnt (1) l Large-scale DVTS is possible – Network support l 30 nodes for unicast (bandwidth limitation) l Much more nodes for multicast – End pc limitations l completely interactive l Network monitoring integrated tools is very important for the administrator – Isolate network problem and application problem l Self-service tools can dramatically increase the efficiency – User can do the test at any time – Open network and video performance info for users
18
18 Lessons We Learnt (2) l Non-technique factors –Heavy load of coordination l POC list –Very difficult to do concurrent testing l Website –Standard configuration –Test reports release –Sharing info on common problem solving –Important notice
19
19 Remarks l Features of our system – Pure IPv6 – Large scale – Multiple reflectors with multicast feeding – User controlled pre-test environment – Real time network traffic monitoring l We will present more technical details tomorrow
