WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE? Ata Gungor 10th Grade
2
NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Energy Petroleum Forests Urbanization Environmental pollution Sea and waters Air pollution Earth Recycling
3
ENERGY SAVING POLICY Present resources – Chemical energy, Electrical energy, Heat, Mechanical energy, Nuclear energy Alternative energy sources – Solar energy, Wind energy, Wave energy, Bio-Gas, Bio-Diezel, Hydrogen Energy saving Rechargable battery use Energy saver bulbs Insulation of buildings
7
PETROLEUM SAVING POLICY Reducing the use of petroleum, coal and natural gas (fossil fuel) Not driving vehicles unless necessary (Low aired tires consume more oil. Unnecessary and sudden push on the breaks increase oil consumption by 5 %) Prefering public transportation to private cars Applying insulation to all buildings to reduce heating energy.
8
SAVING FORESTS Growing more forests Forming new areas for plantation Preventing fires in forested areas Protecting Flora(plants) and Fauna(animals) Prohibiting buldings in or near forested areas
9
PROVIDING PROPER URBANIZATION Forming restrictional rules to unhealthy urban developments and applying these rules without any privelages Keeping constructions away from forests Prohibiting sea-shore fillings Protecting and increasing green fields in cities
10
DECREASING ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION Water and Seas Controlling the use of detergents: minimum use is essential Purification of polluted wastes and re-use Releasing factory wastes to nature after cleaning process Protecting fish species Controlling fish-farms Air Pollution Filtering the chimneys of industrial plants and houses Using alternative technologies in vehicle production – hybrid technology and bio-diesel oil
11
Keeping the filters of vehicles clean Increasing the emission power of vehicles Encouraging the use of low engine power vehicles
13
RECYCLING RECYCLING Constructing power plants to recycle residential wastes Separation of wastes – plastics, glass, paper, chemical products Consuming food provided in recyclable boxes and packages
14
POLITICS AND ORGANIZATION No need to say that environmental protection must be the most important policy that countries should take into account. Local organizations and NGO’s must take action against ones who try to break present rules. Schools as well as families must act proactively to provide education to these organisations.
