1 WITHLACOCHEE MASTER REGIONALWATER SUPPLY PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAM (PHASE VII): NORTHERN DISTRICT MODELING KICK OFF MEETING JUNE 14, 2007

2 2 June 14, 2007 KickOff Meeting The Mega and the Northern District Models

3 3 June 14, 2007 KickOff Meeting Northern District Model  Developed by WRA Team member HGL for SWFWMD  Incorporates most up-to-date and complete hydrogeologic and hydrologic data, e.g. NEXRAD rainfall data, and extent of surficial aquifer  Surficial aquifer is much better defined and is represented as an explicit layer in the NDWRAP Model; critical for assessing water use impacts on MFLs.  Enhanced resolution compared to the Sepulveda (“Mega”) model (smaller horizontal and vertical grid sizes).  The model was calibrated using steady-state data in 1995 and transient data between 1996 and 2002.  Developed by WRA Team member HGL for SWFWMD  Incorporates most up-to-date and complete hydrogeologic and hydrologic data, e.g.

4 4 June 14, 2007 KickOff Meeting NORTHERN DISTRICT MODELING: Sequence of Tasks  Request pumping data and precipitation data in 2005 from the SWFWMD  Update the ND model with the new pumping and precipitation data  Verify the model with 2005 potentiometric data  Transfer all the pumping increment information (increment between 2005 and 2025) from the Mega model to the ND model  Develop a change map: a map that shows changes in groundwater level between 2025 and 2005 base on the estimated 2025 groundwater demands  Identify proxy MFLs through the WRWSA area to constrain the ND model  Water bodies for which proxy MFLs are required are listed in the following slides. These water bodies were extracted from the SWFWMD priority list.  Request pumping data and precipitation data in 2005 from the SWFWMD  Update the ND model with the new pumping and precipitation data  Verify the model with 2005 potentiometric data  Transfer all the pumping increment information (increment between 2005 and 2025) from the Mega model to the ND model  Develop a change map: a map that shows changes in groundwater level between 2025 and 2005 base on the estimated 2025 groundwater demands  Identify proxy MFLs through the WRWSA area to constrain the ND model  Water bodies for which proxy MFLs are required are listed in the following slides. 7 7 June 14, 2007 KickOff Meeting Water bodies with proxy MFLs to be included as part of the analysis (Ctd.) Potential water bodies outside the WRWSA area:  Anclote River System  Pithlachascotee River System (Note: These two river systems may be impacted by pumping in Hernando County.) 8 8 June 14, 2007 KickOff Meeting NORTHERN DISTRICT MODELING: Sequence of Tasks  Identify areas of surplus and deficit groundwater availability using the proxy MFLs. Associated amounts of surplus/deficit will also be estimated.  Prepare Technical Memorandum No. 1 which describes:  Modeling  Proxy MFLs  Areas with potential surplus or deficit of groundwater resources, and amounts of surplus or deficit  Identify areas of surplus and deficit groundwater availability using the proxy MFLs.
